Friday Night Football



I've had too much booze to be able to say anything very coherent tonight, so sit back and wallow in the opulence that is Brazil at the 1970 World Cup. You know you want to - even if you've seen it a million times before.

The thing about Pele is, within a fortnight in 1970, he came a cumulative total of about 6 inches from scoring the two greatest goals in the history of football.

Johnny Byrne would have hit the target.

it might mean that English players get enough practice at penalties that one day we'd make it to a semi-final of a major tournament
