Barry Bridges had just signed for us from Millwall. Needless to say we were crap and got relegated that season from Div 2. But I was a regular fan during my four years in Brighton - yes including Cloughie and 0-4 v Walton & Hersham (who they?!) and 2-8 v Bristol Rovers, both at home. Then I moved to Wimbledon in 1976 but travelled to most Goldstone games and saw us promoted to div 1 and then the FA Cup Final(s). But when kids starting arriving I needed local footie, and Plough Lane is 20 minutes walk from home. So no contest, and hey just in time for another cup final - which we won!

And then the Franchise disgrace and the fantastic adventure that is AFC Wimbledon. And both my lads are mad Dons fans too.

But there will always be a big part of my heart that is blue and white stripes.

Give the Albion a cheer for me next time you're down at the Withdean.

Promotion this season?

Cheers.

DavidAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10399764.post-15322493003873554202007-11-05T11:58:00.000+00:002007-11-05T11:58:00.000+00:00Jeff Minton came in for special attention from me ...Jeff Minton came in for special attention from me for the following reasons:

1. His membership of the wretched Brighton team of 1997, which almost got relegated from the Football League.

2. His close physical resemblance to Shovell, from 'M' People.

3. The fact that I may have had rather too much to drink on the train up from Brighton.

4. The fact that anything related to Jeff King raises my hackles immediately (and I think that he played for King at Canvey, too).

St Albans' record at Canvey (for the matches that I went to there) reads as follows - 0-4, 1-6, 2-3, 1-5, 1-3.200percenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14645801159434664430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10399764.post-12211973931468162712007-11-05T11:15:00.000+00:002007-11-05T11:15:00.000+00:00Thanks for the complimentary comments about our wi...Thanks for the complimentary comments about our win - we were as suprised as anyone by the scale of it. Certainly one of our better performances. Just intrigued though - why the dislike of Minton? What did he/has he done to want you to shout at him so much. Me and a couple of other wombles are intrigued....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
